JOB SUMMARY

This position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in park maintenance and in the operation of the Surf ‘n Slide Water Park. Assists with the operations of the Moses Lake parks and recreation facilities, buildings, and grounds. Scheduled shifts will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (pre-season) and 9:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. (regular season) during the months of June, July, and August. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist seasonal and full-time staff with park maintenance and repairs.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs of the Surf ‘n Slide Water Park.
• Vacuum water bodies utilizing specialized equipment. 
• Monitor security control of the Surf ‘n Slide Water Park and McCosh Park.
• Assist with park development projects.
• Operate power equipment and electric power tools.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs on buildings and grounds.
• Assist with special events preparations.
• Additional related duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

• Knowledge and experience with basic maintenance and repair principles and processes.
• Knowledge and experience operating power equipment and electric power tools.
• Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays. 
• Ability to work independently and with other staff.
• Ability to wear approved and proper work attire to follow safe working conditions.
• Ability to provide own transportation to work site. 

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Parks Maintenance Supervisor assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application. 

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

The purpose of this position is to provide overnight on-site supervision, cleaning, and maintenance at the Surf ‘n Slide Water Park and McCosh Park.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The work is typically performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. 

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge and level of competency and experience which provides sufficient knowledge to competently perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. 
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the essential functions of the position.
• Possession of a valid Washington State Driver’s License at time of hire.
• All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check process which includes reference checks and criminal history checks, or other. 
• Fluent in English (read, write, and speak).
